ohh boy.. here comes the racist jokes…(please resist and be mature…)you cant really tell if its fake or not on ebay.. the best is to go with your best intuition…you can also look up the same exact handbag and compare it with the one in the picture… but that’s still a vague idea of what it’ll really look like….usually theres signs on ebay to tell u if its fake… like unbelievabliy cheap or something like that

The “open air” San Lorenzo market has great leather goods, as well as other trinkets, scarves and pieces of art. There is a GREAT food market tucked behind the outdoor stands. Very local feeling and has some of the best panini to be found in Florence.

The best places are normally the markets not frequented by tourists. Rome will be more expensive so try some of the towns you stop at before getting to Rome. If you are coming from Nice you will probably go through Genoa or Turin both of which are fairly good. The market of Porta Palazzo in Turin is a great place to pick up bargains of all kinds. It is one of the biggest markets in Europe.

Your choices need to be flexible, as it is going to start off warm/hot, and then get gradually colder and wetter as you pass through October and November, and December will be cold, but with less rain than Oct & Nov.

Florence. Capital of leather. Go to the little markets around San Lorenzo.

well, all leather is pretty expensive to begin with…but not ALL italian leather is particularly expensive, its mostly just the brand names that come out of Italy are expensive, so when they make stuff using leather (like shoes) they cost a lot of money. Its to do with the label names being well known and good quality, rather than the actual leather itself. Stuff like Gucci etc is an example of this.If you buy a big leather bag from Oroton it might cost you 2000 bucks. But thats made in Australia and then assembled in china! Yet people pay that much for the brand name.

probably there are stores with below par products in just about every industrialized country…… you kno the products made in china

USPS is crazy… restrictions you find on their site are mostly a USPS issue, NOT a banning by Italy on those items, like reported by another user; couriers do not have that same blacklist.

My guess would be that most European countries like France, Germany, Italy, England, Ireland, Belgium (etc) are old, and have honed the processes of the production of select items. The specific ways and recipes and such would be handed down through generations. There would be apprentices to learn the ways. Many foods, chocolates, mercantile items, furniture, jewelry, watches are hand-made with care and integrity. there is no such thing as mass production. these items are worth every penny paid for them. The wine, beer and other liquors are aged to perfection, not quickly mixed in big vats, bottled and sold. They care about their products and take the time to perfect them. It is to the envy of many, and for the enjoyment of all.

If you’re into tight and prefer faux, you really should try Lip Service. They specialize in that stuff [pvc]If you weren’t worried about using real leather, the “bomb” is Jitrois, which specialises in genuine leather that stretches. It’s very expensive, but top of the line quality.BTW: I agree with you: leather pants are awesome!

that smells awsum y wud u want to get rid of it

it depends on what you get, some of it is less expensive but often of poorer quality. You should jot down the prices of the things that you think you want, price them where you shop here and then you will have a better idea of what the real savings is going to be.We have done this and found that the prices here are as good or better than there. That’s why it’s really a good idea to know the products beforehand. You will get better bargains in Spain, Turkey, Hong Kong and Bangkok, a lot of the Asiatic stuff is counterfeit.

A rosary would be a good idea for your grandfather, or a charm. For your girlfriend I’d recommend some fine italian leather shoes or clothing (D&G, Armani etc). In Greece you can find exquisite jewelery (you can find something in an ancient greek style, like a meander)Have fun!
