Are spiked/studded biker vests considered “gay”?
Hi all.First time asking a question here so bear with me.Im planning on getting myself a biker vest/waistcoat kinnda thing. This one here to be exact:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mens-Black-Brando-Motorcycle-Biker-Leather-Waistcoat-/260643821811?pt=Men_s_Clothes&var=&hash=item82633f3063#ht_1266wt_1139I already have the full jacket version of it and its identical to the one worn by Marlon Brando in The Wild One and is a pretty heavy thick leather jacket.Anyway, leathercraft supplies once I get it I plan on punching a tonne of spikes and studs through it and painting some band logos (Static X badge on the “Machine” album and Disturbeds badge on their “Believe” album) like the jacket seen in this pic here:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YOUR-JACKET-CUSTOMISED-STUDDED-PUNK-MOTORBIKE-LEATHER-/200462056653?pt=Men_s_Clothes&hash=item2eac783ccdIll probably be using a tonne of these studs here:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200506494459&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2948wt_1139across the front and back and probably these ones in the epaulets across the shoulders:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LARGE-DRAGON-CLAW-SPIKES-PUNK-CURVED-RARE-6PK-FREE-POST-/200434293602?pt=UK_Crafts_Leathercraft_LE&hash=item2eaad09b62Obviously this will not be for everyday wear, it will be for when I go to the local rock club. What do you think? Obviously I dont want to look gay (not that Im homophobic). I just want to look more “Retro Metalhead” and not “Village People + spikes”cheersJames

I have heard from a leatherworking friend that Tandy tools last almost forever. That would seem like a good value to me, since you won’t have to replace it unless you do something stupid with it.

I sell my artwork, which also is not your typical stuff, in a local coffee shop/bookstore. The owner lets me leave several pieces a week. I tell her what price I want and she prices it however she wants, as long as I get my price, I’m happy. Soon I plan to branch out to a 50 mile radius and hit other boutique style stores with a special clientelle. Good luck!!

No offence, but the 2nd link’s picture looks like an eyesore… forget about gay. I dislike treating all gays as one ‘culture’, but that 2nd picture did scream ‘gay bondage’ to me, LOL. The first picture is absolutely fine… maybe also cos it’s sleeveless, so you can tone down on the leather by wearing something underneath (DO wear something underneath, haha)

Yes, long time leathercrafter. Do you have a question about the craft?

Also, the size is for women’s sizes and run about 1-2 sizes smaller than that. I learned this the hard way when I tried to make a size 12-13 for myself and they ended up a little tight on my wife’s size 8 1/2 feet.

Depending on how cheap the conchos or studs look like, if they look too cheap then it will only make the value go down. If the saddles look good sell them as is…. you dont want to take too much away from them.. Good luck

I believe Tandy Leather ships leather. Also I’d check ebay, there are plenty of merchants who do merchanting online in addition to events.

I’m in 4H too. I’ve been in since I was in 1st grade, I’m in 9th now. I show dairy heifers and dairy steers because I live on a dairy farm. I also brought photographs and food to the fair last year. I didn’t really enjoy the photography and foods. I love showing heifers and steers because I have actually made new friends and I go to State Fair every year and it is fun. Im the secretary in my club but I don’t enjoy doing stuff with 4H unless it has to do with showing heifers and steers. It also gives me something to do in the summer because I have to work with my animals daily. For people who are more involved, it probly has given them more responsibility and etc, so yes I do think it teaches you good things and is worthwhile to be in.
